Egyptian football powerhouse Al Ahly has claimed their 12th CAF Champions League title by defeating Tunisia's Esperance 1-0 in the final held in Cairo. The decisive moment came just four minutes into the match when an Esperance player inadvertently headed a corner from Hussein El Shahat into his own net.
The first leg of the final, played in Tunisia, ended in a 0-0 draw, making the second leg crucial for both teams. Al Ahly's early goal set the tone for the rest of the match and secured their victory.
Fans were ecstatic with the win. "I swear to God, our happiness cannot be described. We tried to enter the stadium but couldn&rsquo;t, but my happiness is just as if I entered the stadium. This is the 12th championship, double the number our rivals have. We are the champions of Africa and no one can ever reach that number," said Alaa Sayed, a passionate Al Ahly supporter.
Another fan, Essam, expressed optimism for the future: "Congratulations to Al Ahly and their fans, congratulations to Egypt. Hopefully, we will see you again for the 13th championship."
This victory also marks Al Ahly's 20th consecutive unbeaten match in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, further cementing their dominance in African football.
